Academy for Educational Development (AED)
AED is one of the world's foremost human and social development organizations. Independent and not-for-profit, the Academy is committed to solving critical social problems through education, research, training, and social marketing.

Achieve, Inc.
Achieve, Inc. is an independent, bipartisan, non-profit organization created by the nation's governors and corporate leaders to help states raise academic standards, improve assessments and strengthen accountability to prepare all young people for postsecondary education, work, and citizenship.

Business Roundtable
The Business Roundtable, an association of chief executive officers of leading U.S. corporations, is committed to advocating for public policies that ensure vigorous economic growth, a dynamic global economy, and the well-trained and well-educated U.S. workforce essential for future competitiveness.

Center for Workforce Preparation (CWP)
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce created the CWP in 1990 to help build leadership in local chambers for workforce development and help them recognize the value and importance of this leadership role. It does this by providing tools, knowledge, and strategic relationships to help chambers succeed.

Central Educational Center (CEC)
CEC is a publicly-funded charter high school in Newnan, Georgia. The school's goal is to create synergy among local educational, business, industrial, and governmental entities that will favorably impact and enhance economic development and quality of life.

College and Career Transitions Initiative (CCTI)
An initiative of the League for Innovation in the Community College, CCTI seeks to identify, develop, and refine practices that help students move effectively from high school to college and to careers by better aligning and improving the quality of secondary and postsecondary programs in high-demand career areas.

Communities in Schools (CIS)
CIS helps to build connections between schools and community resources that assist young people in learning, staying in school, and preparing for life. By bringing caring adults into the schools to address children's unmet needs, CIS provides a link between schools and the communities in which they operate.

Education Commission of the States (ECS)
ECS is a national, nonprofit organization that helps governors, legislators, state education officials and others identify, develop, and implement public policies to improve student learning at all levels.

The Education Trust
Established by the American Association for Higher Education as a special project to encourage colleges and universities to support K-12 reform efforts, the Ed Trust has since grown into an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to make schools and colleges work for all of the young people they serve.

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence
This website of the U.S. Department of Education provides resources pertaining to a variety of academic areas, including health and safety, science, and career education.

Job Shadowing
Job Shadowing is led by the National Job Shadow Coalition and is supported through a national sponsorship by Monster, Inc. and News Corporation. This academically-motivating program is designed to give kids an up-close look at the world of work and to answer the question, "Why do I have to learn this?"

Jobs for the Future (JFF)
As a non-profit research, consulting, and advocacy organization, JFF works to strengthen society by creating educational and economic opportunity for those who need it most. JFF works to create successful transitions for youth, build economic opportunities for adults, and foster social business ventures.

Johnson & Johnson
A corporate leader in the health care industry and the world's most comprehensive and broad-based manufacturer of health care products, Johnson & Johnson's fundamental objective is to provide scientifically sound, high quality products and services to help heal, cure disease, and improve the quality of life.

Lansing Area Manufacturing Project (LAMP)
LAMP, a business/union-driven, school-to-career initiative, is sponsored by the United Auto Workers (UAW), General Motors Corporation (GM), and the Ingham Intermediate School District. An excellent example of school-business partnership, the program combines classroom instruction with work-based learning at GM facilities.

National Academy Foundation (NAF)
NAF sustains a national network of career academies to support the development of America's youth toward personal and professional success in high school, higher education, and throughout their careers. Today, there are more than 650 NAF programs, located in 40 states and the District of Columbia.

National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE)
NCEE, a non-profit organization and leading advocate of standards-based school reform, operates three major programs which seek to create powerful, coherent, standards-based education and training systems: the America's Choice School Design, the Workforce Development Program, and the National Institute for School Leadership.

National Institute for Work and Learning (NIWL)
One of 23 centers of excellence within the Academy for Educational Development, NIWL combines research, program development and evaluation, technical assistance, capacity building, training, and information sharing in three broad arenas: Learning at School, Learning at Work, and Learning Beyond School and Work.

National Mentoring Partnership
MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership advocates for the expansion of mentoring and serves as a resource for mentors and mentoring initiatives nationwide. Specifically, the partnership promotes pro-mentoring legislation and policies and advocates for safety and quality by encouraging mentoring organizations to follow rigorous standards.

National Science Foundation (NSF)
NSF, an independent agency of the U.S. Government, funds research and education in science and technology. Among other activities, NSF initiates and supports scientific and engineering research and programs, and education programs at all levels.

National Youth Development Information Center
NYDIC is a resource for youth workers with an interest in funding, programming, research, policy, and job training opportunities. NYDIC creates opportunities for practitioners to share knowledge and experience, enabling them to build best practices in the field of youth development.

National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC)
A network of more than 230 youth employment and youth development organizations, NYEC is dedicated to promoting policies and initiatives that help youth succeed in becoming lifelong learners, productive workers and self-sufficient citizens.

U.S. Department of Education
In 1980, the Department of Education was created by bringing together offices from several other departments. Its original directive remains its mission today - to ensure equal access to education and to promote educational excellence throughout the nation.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Created in 1946, the Department of Health and Human Services is the U.S. government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services. The department oversees more than 300 programs, many of which are designed to assist young people.

U.S. Department of Labor
Established in 1913, the Department of Labor promotes the welfare of job seekers, wage earners, and retirees of the United States by improving their working conditions, advancing their opportunities for profitable employment, protecting their retirement and health care benefits, and tracking changes in employment, prices, and other national economic measurements.
